Alexandra Polin started her musical studies at the age 4 with the piano and have moved on to the recorder before settling with the violoncello. She studied with the renown Israeli cellist Prof. Schmuel Magen at the Givatayim conservatory and at Thelma-Yellin art high school. She completed her Bachelor degree with the Viola da Gamba in the Jerusalem Music Academy under Mr. Amit Tiefenbrunn in 2009 and moved to Basel, Switzerland to continue her studies at the Schola Cantorum with Prof. Paolo Pandolfo. During her Bachelor studies she enjoyed a scholarship from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation as well as from Erasmus Exchange Program that allowed her to study with Prof. Philippe Pierlot in Brussels.
While in Israel, Alexandra was a very sought after continuo player and has played intensively with large baroque ensembles there: Ensemble PHOENIX, The Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra, Barrocade Ensemble as well as with many other smaller ensembles. In Europe, Alexandra has played with Capriccio Basel, Orchestre Symphonique du Jura, Sestina Viol Consort, Profeti della Quinta, La Sestina vocal ensemble, ensemble thélemè, Vars Musica, Académie Bach Aix, Stella Matutina, Le Parlement de Musique and others.
Alexandra enjoys playing chamber music above all else and is trying to arrive at an open, intuitive and flowing communication between the musicians on stage and between them and the public. She has founded two such ensembles: Zoom Quartet and Les Etrangers.

The Italian soprano, Anastasia Terranova, obtained her Bachelor of Arts dgree in Renaissance-Romantic Singing from Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (2015); and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Renaissance & Baroque Singing from Conservatorio di musica Vincenzo Bellini di Palermo (2013-2016).

Anastasia Terranova sang with Capella Sacra from Colmar, France (2016-2017). She currently works and with Ensemble Opalescences (Director: Saskia Salembier) and with Ensemble Suono Spirito in Horgen (Director: Marco Castellini) and has also worked with Christophe Rousset and Enrico Onofri. She started working with Francesco Saverio Pedrini in 2015 and has worked with his ensemble La Pedrina from Olten, Switzerland from its beginning. She currently lives in Zeist, the Netherlands.

One of the most active stage directors for opera in Latin America, André Heller-Lopes has directed productions in countries such as Spain, Argentina, Estonia, Uruguay, Germany, Chile, Portugal, Poland, Austria, U.K., Malaysia and all over Brazil. He trained at the prestigious San Francisco Merola Opera Program (2001) and at Covent Garden’s Young Artist Programme (2003-2005). In 2013 he received the Britten100Award and his production of A midsummer night’s dream was a finalist in the best opera production category at the 2014 Opera Awards. Distinguished in 2012 by the Epoca magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in Brazil, André Heller-Lopes is a three time winner of the “Carlos Gomes Prize” (2009/2010/2011) as best opera stage director in Brazil and of the Argentinian Music Critics Association distinction for best production of the year 2015.

Hierover moet het gaan: dat het Apollo Ensemble zichzelf elke keer weer opnieuw uitvindt in het spelen van muziek. We storten ons op de uitvoering alsof ze voor het eerst mag klinken. Daarbij zijn verrassende plekken in de provincie ons net zo lief als de bekendere podia. Uiteindelijk telt de interactie die we werkelijk met ons publiek ervaren, dankzij een hoorbare en zichtbare intensiteit van musiceren.

Plaats en tijd van een uitvoering, en aanwezigheid van publiek doen wat met de musici. In dát moment maken we een nieuwe herschepping. Dit wonderlijke besef laten we los op ruim vijf eeuwen muziekgeschiedenis, van Monteverdi tot Stravinsky. Met instrumenten passend bij de tijd duiken we dieper in de wereld van de componist en van het stuk. Zo vergroten we onze inzichten en daarmee de rijke variëteit die het ensemble kan bieden.

Born in 1983 (Soria, Spain), began to play the double bass aged 10.
She studied modern double bass and composition at Guildhall School in London, Hanns Eisler in Berlin. Later she did a Master in early music at Schola Cantorum in Basel.
Her main teachers were: Rinat Ibragimov, Esko Laine, Janne Saksala, Peter McCarthy and David Sinclair. In modern performance practice she got valuable impulses from Uli Fussenegger.
During her studies she got scholarships from Humboldt-Wardwell-Stiftung, Spanish Culture Ministery, ‘Asociación de Artistas de Espania’ as well as ‘Juventudes Musicales’.
She won the ‘Música Saludable’ competition in Soria 1997, ‘Hanns-Eisler-Preis’ for contemporary music 2007 as well as finalist at DAAD-Preis 2007.

After her studies she worked with the most prominent modern orchestras such as: English National Opera, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester, Staatskapelle, Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchester and Komische Oper in Berlin, Duisburger Philarmoniker, Nederlands Philarmonisch Orkest, Het Ballet Orkest, Phion Orkest.

Countertenor Doron Schleifer began his musical career as a boy-soloist of the synagogue of the Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem. After studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance with Miriam Meltzer, he continued his vocal training at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Evelyn Tubb, Gerd Türk and Andreas Scholl. Doron leads a busy solo career of performance and recording working with ensembles such as Schola Cantorum Nürnberg (director, Pia Praetorius), Ensemble La Morra (with which he has recorded two CDs), and La Capella Reial de Catalunya (director, Jordi Savall), among others. He is a member of the all-male vocal ensemble Profeti della Quinta, winner of the York Early Music International Young Artist Competition in 2011 and with whom he tours regularly in Europe, North America, South Africa and Asia. On top of his activity as a singer, Doron is the musical director of Basel Synagogue Choir and teaches at the annual Early Music Village in Nagano, Japan.

Pianist, Composer and Arranger, currently living in Cologne, Germany.
Born in São Paulo in 1988, Henrique Gomide possesses a diverse musical background. He graduated in Classical Piano from ULM and Universidade de São Paulo (USP), then pursued an MA in Jazz Piano at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (Netherlands), completing his degree in 2014 with a scholarship. In Cologne (Germany), he obtained a second master’s degree in Jazz Composition and Arrangement from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in 2018, specializing in Big Band Arranging.
During his educational journey, Gomide studied jazz piano under Geri Allen, Juraj Stanik, Michele Rosewoman, Oscar Perez, and classical piano with Hermes Jacchieri, José Eduardo Martins, Paulo Álvares, and David Witten, among others.
Since 2023, Gomide teaches piano at the Jazz & Pop Departament of ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem, the Netherlands.

Since his arrival in The Netherlands in 2009, double bassist James Oesi has become a well known face in the classical and contemporary music world. As one of the few concentrating on the bass as a solo instrument, he has performed solo programmes (including works by Bach, Beethoven and Rachmaninoff, among others) in prominent venues such as Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Concertgebouw Brugge, Utrecht’s TivoliVredenburg, The Oosterpoort in Groningen, festivals such as Huddersfield Music Festival (UK), November Music, Oerol, Festival Classique and at festival Wonderfeel (where his concert was later named by Dutch National Public Radio 4 as one of the festival’s highlights). James has toured South Africa and France and played with South African Jazz Legend Abdullah Ibrahim at the North Sea Jazz Festival.

Dutch double bassist, composer and producer Jasper Somsen (1973) graduated in both Jazz and Classical double bass. He is an open minded versatile musician. Best known as a Jazz musician his field of interest and expertise also includes cross overs to classical, pop, world and film music and theater productions.

Jasper has collaborated with some of the very best musicians on the international jazz scene including Peter Erskine, Enrico Pieranunzi, Joey Calderazzo, Jeff Ballard, John Beasley, Jean-Michel Pilc, Eric Marienthal, Bob Sheppard, Seamus Blake, Jorge Rossy, Kendrick Scott, Justin Faulkner, André Ceccarelli, Gary Husband, Gabriele Mirabassi and Paolo Fresu.
